Rosey
Reed has owned and operated Griffith Park Farms, a successful
show barn at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, for over 20
years. From the beginning, her students have consistently
won at the top ‘A’ shows on the west coast. In
the inaugural year of the Zone 10 Stirrup Cup Medal, a student
Reed started on her horsemanship career won the Finals. Rosey
and Griffith Park Farms riders and horses have also won numerous
Zone 10 and Pacific Coast Horse Show Association year-end
awards, ranging from the Pre-Green Hunters to the A/O Jumpers.
Reed has been honored with induction into the San
Diego Hall of Champions for her decades of equestrian accomplishments
and was privileged to participate as a demonstrator in the
1984 Summer Olympics.
A talented journalist with an eye for detail, Reed
has written extensively for equestrian trade journals for
more than a decade. She has covered the World Championships
in Rome, the World Cup in Las Vegas, as well as all of the
prominent east and west coast shows. She has filed stories
for The Chronicle of the Horse, Pacific Coast Horse Show News,
Show Circuit Magazine and many other local publications.
Reed is also nationally recognized for creating
her, ‘Medal Class Specifications’ and ‘Qualifying
Record’ tracking sheets. These handy, user-friendly
reference guides are relied upon by national judges and show
officials, as well as parents and riders as aids to decoding
the complicated world of medal classes.
Currently serving on the board of directors of
the Los Angeles Horse Show Association and the San Fernando
Valley Horse Show Association, as she has for the past several
years, Reed is now also a member of the Zone 10 nominating
committee. She is a lifetime member of the U.S. Equestrian
Federation, as well as most other equestrian associations,
and a charter member of the California Professional Horseman’s
Association.
